Recommended Reading: No GSG IPO (x2) / Car Hack / YC Fellowship

After a long “break”, it’s about time for another edition of Recommended Reading!



  • German Startups Group postpones stock market float, by Victoria Bryan on Reuters: Supposedly because of “difficult market conditions”, the GSG – a holding for minority stakes in about 40 German startups – will not IPO now. They say it is just postponed, possibly to autumn, but I would take (small) bets that it’s not going to happen any time soon…
  • Various comments on the Die German Startups Group is toll! (in German) post by Jochen Krisch on ExcitingCommerce: Market conditions, schmarket conditions… There’s quite a few interesting things found by people (in the prospectus etc.) that major media outlets did not seem to bother to look into.
  • Hackers Remotely Kill a Jeep on the Highway—With Me in It, by Andy Greenberg on Wired: Turns out connecting basically all the functionality of a car to the internet is not a smart idea after all. Who would have thought…
  • YC Fellowship Announcement: YC getting into the pre-seed and idea-stage game. Curious to see how this one will play out.
